Bob & Liz Brown's 1959 Corvette

(Primary Participant)

In early 1989 my wife Liz encouraged me to go buy the Vette I had always wanted since I was a teenager. After a very long search, I finally found my dream car in August of 1989 here in San Diego.. I purchased the car from the second owner who was a lovely lady of 76 years old and had owned the all white, red interior roadster for more than 30 years. She couldn't recall the first owner's name, but remembered the first owner was also a lady and she only owned the Vette for about 15 months.

I drove the car for about a year and then started a total restoration that lasted more than 10 years (yeah, I was s l o o o w) and finally finished in the spring of 2000. One of the first trips for the "new" Vette was to return to the now 86 year old lady and take her to lunch in a beautiful new 1959 Corvette.

This is a very early 1959, serial # J59S100048 and I believe it came off the line on 1 September 1958, the first day of production for the 1959 model year. It is Snowcrest White with white coves and all red interior. It has the 245HP (2X4 carbs & hydraulic lifters) and a 4 speed T-10 tranny. Other options include the Wonderbar radio, heater, windshield washer and a single left side sunshade.

We are truly excited to be a part of this historic Corvette event and look forward to meeting all the participants.
