The First Historic Motorama

Chaz & Gael Cone's Historic Motorama Diary

Those who know me, know that I'm driven to document every aspect of my life on the web; believe me, it's a curse!

That being said, here we go again.

Our '64 Corvette was selected to represent the 1964 model year on the Corvette Historic Motorama.  This once-in-a-lifetme event celebrating FIFTY YEARS of Corvette production begins June 24, 2002 and ends with a Celebration weekend at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 28-30th.

The Historic Motorama is a road tour with one of every model year of Corvette from 1953 through 2002.  If that sounds like fifty Corvettes, it's really only 49..  You should know that there was no 1983 Corvette sold to customers.  The only 1983 in existence is in the National Corvette Museum (NCM) and it's doubtful that it will be on the trip -- but you never know.  I can't think of a better use for this one-of-kind Corvette than being part of a one-of-a-kind trip!

FLASH! NO, wait!  It seems that the '83 won't be on the trip BUT a brand new 2003 Anniversary Edition C5 will be on the entire Motorama with us from Flint to Bowling Green!  So there will be fifty Corvettes on the Historic Motorama!

The Motorama begins in Flint, Michigan (where Corvette was first built), goes to Joliet IL, Effingham IL to St. Louis, MO (where Corvette was built until 1981), then through Evansville, IN and on to Bowling Green, KY (where Corvette is built today).  At each stop along the week-long trip the Corvettes will be on display, participate in parades and generally stop traffic everywhere they go.  If you're on the route (or can get to a city on the route) you should really see this!  But, if you can't, return here often and I'll have a diary posted daily with pictures.
