Bill Buck, Sr.'s Motorama Letter

I arrived home in Venice, Florida at 2:30pm Monday, July 1, 2002.
After leaving Flint, Michigan, being a VIP and attending various events we arrived in Bowling Green, KY. Driving into the grounds of the Corvette museum being greeted by at least 7,000 people with a standing, hand-clapping welcome sure was a welcome acknowledgement after a trouble-free 1,111 miles of formation driving.
In a 1955 Gypsy Red Chrevrolet Corvette Convertible with almost 100,000 miles on the body and chassis and an owner with a very old body and frame with very young blood circulating throught his body's veins. What an experience and a memorable event! I believe that each of us will live this experience over and over the rest of our lives.
I have always heard that 15 seconds sometime in a lifespan a person will be recognized as a VIP but I know that I had at least 30 minutes of being a VIP as we drove through the Corvette plant. Yes, I had more than 15 seconds of notoriety, enough to last a lifetime.
it's very hard to keep my nose to the grind stone as I am still walking on air. I sure met a wonderful group of great people in the Corvette Motorama. This was made possible by the hard work of Larry Hayes, Robert Crum and I am proud to say my son Bill. I also want to thank our backup team of Bill's son-in-law and daughter Eric & Robyn Calkins and Mark & Melissa Nemer. Also, the 1955 Corvette Gypsy Red, driven by most capable Jerry Joseph. It was also a very special treat for me to have been involved in such an important event and having been able to share it with my daughter Pat DeYoung of Lansing, Michigan.
Thanks for taking the time to read my letter of gratitude of this once in a lifetime venture. It was sure great to meet new friends of the Historic Motorama. Please keep this key ring and think of the Motorama each time you look at it. (Bill sent a Bill Buck keyring to each particpant).
If you are ever in the Venice area please stop in and say hello at Bill Buck Chevrolet and view our large display picture of all the Corvettes in St. Louis.
