The Trip Across the Pond

We were left to our own devices to get to the UK rallying point, Heathrow Airport on Sunday, June 11th. The plan was for most of us to rendezvous (see, we're already practicing our French!) at Heathrow and meet an arranged coach to take us all to Felixstowe. We'll have dinner, spend the night in Felixstowe, and get bused over to pick up the cars Monday morning.

We'll drive to Folkstone, Kent, and load the cars onto the Chunnel train and accompany them through the Chunnel to France. Then it's on to Paris for our first night in France! Wow!

Here's the itinerary at this writing:

June 11
Sunday		 Everyone arrives in England and gather at Heathrow. Coach from Heathrow at 5pm takes us to Felixstowe, Suffolk, for the night at the Brook Hotel. Tel: 03194 278441
June 12
Monday		 Coach to warehouse to pick up the C5s and drive in caravan to Folkstone, Kent.
Accompany the cars to France via the Chunnel (Euro Tunnel) on the train, arriving Calais, France, about 2:30pm.

June 13
Tuesday		 Leave Paris at about 1pm arriving in caravan at our headquarters hotel, Chateau de Curzay, at about 4pm. Tel: 011 33 5 4936 1700
June 14
Wednesday		 Road tour to Hennesey Cognac factory leaves at about 9.00am returning to the Chateau at about 3:00pm.
C5 Registry Dinner at 8:00pm at the Chateau.
June 15
Thursday		 Bus tour of the Castles of Loire Valley leaves at about 9:00am. Then Chambord and the Villandry Gardens, dinner on the road, return to the Chateau at about 9:00pm.
June 16
Friday		 Leave for Le Mans at about 1:00pm. Lead the Le Mans parade early Friday evening!
Home to the Chateau for the night (late).
June 17
Saturday		 Leave for Le Mans at about 11:00am, race starts at 4:00pm! Back to the Chateau or sleep sitting up at the Racecourse.
June 18
Sunday		 Race ends (with a Corvette GTS victory!) at 4:00pm.
Back to the Chateau.
June 19
Monday		 Checkout and leave in caravan for Normandy at about 8:00am, arriving about 11:00am.

Tuesday		 Depart in caravan at about noon to Calais, Chunnel train to England, drop the cars off in Felixstowe for their return voyage home.

Wednesday		 Leave at about 7:00am for the airport(s); Gatwick at about 10:00am, Heathrow at about noon.
