Today was decompression day. At least one couple (Wilson and Cassie) remained at the track. GM provided cots, towels and showers for those who did so. Most of us came home last night and did other touristy things today.
Gael and I (and, I understand, Hank and Sue and Roger and Nina) went to the Atlantic coast to a town called La Rochelle. Very charming (and only about an hour and half away by C5). I continue to be impressed by how big this country is...
Home again in mid afternoon for the much-needed nap before our farewell barbecue at Curzay. We saw that both C5Rs did well with a in-class third place podium finish for the #64 car and fourth place for the #63 car. Even more impressive is that the Corvettes finished 10th and 11th overall -- and that's ahead of most of the much faster Prototypes! Cadillac didn't do as well but this is their first year out. Congratulations to both GM teams; great job!
Here's just about everyone including the fabulous Chateau du Curzay staff; do we look happy? We are!:
The barbeque was held out by the pool. It was shrimp, filet, lamb and dozens of side-dishes and desserts. Just fabulous.
Only Dan Adovasio drove (around the building) to the barbeque. Just can't get enough of the Registry Show car:
Since no one was driving tonight much wine was consumed; much of it from a jeraboam that Bob Connell bought on the Castles of Loire tour; it could only be sold if consumed in France. No problemo. I understand that everyone was able to climb the stairs to their rooms though I've not yet done the bed-check.
Tomorrow is all day in the car as we caravan from here beginning at 8:30am for eight hours to the beaches at Normandie and spend the night at a hotel in Rouen.
Before leaving Curzay we all just want to say "Merci!" to the terrific folks at the Chateau. They were all great to us!:
