The C5 Registry March to Le Mans 2000!

The C5 Registry March to Le Mans 2000!

June 17 - 18, 2000

What started out as a conversation at the Route 66 show in 1999 has become a reality. Twenty C5 Registry members (and their significant others) shipped their C5s to Europe; our mission? Touring France and England and cheering on the C5R Racing Team as they attack the 68th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans!

Generally acknowledged to be the best-known and most dramatic endurance race in the world, the 8.45 mile course at Le Mans has been challenging drivers and machines for nearly 70 years. This year's race marks the first significant participation by Corvette in 40 years!

When the idea of getting a Registry group together (with their cars) to go to the race was originally conceived, it seemed like a monumental undertaking. Imagine the paperwork just to get a C5 safely there and back...(not to mention insurance!) Well, it was a huge undertaking but we pulled it off -- at least we think we pulled it off at this writing (a week before we meet in Europe!)

NOTE: I had no idea how many pictures I'd be uploading on the trip; if I'd thought it through properly I'd have broken up the page into smaller chunks so that it would load faster. I've done that now (a bit after the fact) but you can click on the links below to see the parts you wish (now); sorry!

One last thing: This picture of Mike Conner is captioned "The Package" (and it's probably not what you think...)
