Welcome to the Green Hornets Web Page!
Origin
The Green Hornets Color Group was created as one of several such groupings for members of the Official C5 Registry. We thought that bonding through the exterior color of the C5 Corvette was a healthy thing.
All the other C5 color groups seemed to fade through disuse but, for some reason, green Corvette owners found this site and registered their cars. And, not just C5 owners. There were only four C5 model years where green Corvettes were offered: 1997 & 1998 (Fairway Green) and 2000 & 2001 (Dark Bowling Green ). So I reworked this page to accomodate ALL admirers/owners of green Corvettes over the years. There were (at this writing) thirty-two Corvette model years where green Corvettes were available.
Here are the C5 Green Corvette stats:
In 1997, 9,752 Corvettes were built. Out of that number, 155 were Fairway Green (Color Code 87U), the first year the C5 was produced. Fairway Green was the lowest number produced that year, consisting of 1.6% of the total number. There were three interior choices: Black, Pewter and Firethorn Red. All 155 were coupes since no convertibles were produced in 1997. In 1998, 31,084 Corvettes were built. Of those, 223 were Fairway Green, .07% of the total production. There were 70 convertibles and 153 coupes. There were four interior choices: Black, Pewter, Firethorn Red, and Oak. Convertible top color choices were: White, Black, and Oak. General Motors stopped producing Fairway Green in November of 1998. In 1999, no green cars were produced. In the 2000 model year, Dark Bowling Green (Color Code 91U) was introduced and 886 were produced.
In 2001 only 443 were produced so, sadly, GM decided to drop the beautiful Dark Bowling Green color from the line.
Sadly, no green C6s were offered -- but in 2014, the C7 was offered in Lime Rock Green (Color Code G7J) which lasted only one model year. 1,577 were built: 713 coupes and 864 convertibles.

In 2017 we expanded the Green Hornets to include ALL green Corvettes, not just 1997 and later. If you own a green Corvette from any of the 32 years that green Corvettes were made, please register!

NEWS (10/23/2019)
Since I've lost track of Dan Disch, I've assumed the mantle of Group Leadership. Also, today I investigated the practicality of bringing back a version of the Green Hornets patch (shown above) based on several requests. Watch this space!
NEWS (06/24/2017)
Today I reworked the Green Hornets website to account for all thirty-two years where green Corvettes were available.; I guess it's about time... :)
NEWS (03/17/2005)
Today I moved the Green Hornets website to a new webserver. Its address now is greenhornets.chazcone.com and you should make a note of it. The old address will work for some time but eventually you'll need to know this one.
EARLIER NEWS (well, that would be "OLDS" I guess):
NEWS (08/20/2002):
Dan Disch, Green Hornets #13, has graciously agreed to assume the mantle of Group Leadership for the Green Hornets! The competition for this exalted position was fierce, but Dan won out over all the other candidates. How? He WAS all the other candidates, the only one to volunteer. Thanks, Dan!
It's especially appropriate that Dan head up the Green Hornets because his and Karen's 97 Fairway Green Coupe was chosen to represent model year 1997 on the recent Historic Motorama. Click HERE to see their page on the Motorama site.
At the Birthday Bash in Bowling Green, April 2000, Cindy and Robert (Green Hornets founders) hosted a breakfast where they announced (regretfully) that they were stepping down as the leaders of the group. They now drive a Millenium Yellow Convertible and A Millenium Yellow Coupe (both a very pale shade of green) and have sold their Fairway Green coupe.
Lou Merzacco agreed to take on the leadership duties effective May 2, 2000.
Cindy and Robert, I know everyone appreciates your work in getting this group off the ground and wish you well with your new ride(s)!
