C6 Unveiling, Detroit Auto Show 2004

When we heard that GM was going to reveal the 2005 sixth-generation Corvette at the NAIAS Auto Show in Detroit in January, a bunch of us Corvette types planned a pilgrimage to Motor City to be there "first".

We got the word that this was going to happen for sure from Corvette Chief Engineer David Hill at the Petit Le Mans race in October, 2003.    Boy!  Being the first on your block to see the next Corvette -- Priceless!

So we made our reservations and held our breath -- and then the spy shots started showing up.    Were they real? Dunno...

And then we learned that the Chevrolet "Revolution" TV commercial was going to be shown on New Years Eve and would feature the C6.    That would be cool!  Still, a picture isn't the same thing as seeing it "live"..

And THEN we learned that the C6 would be shown first to the public -- not in Detroit on January 10th - but at the LA Auto Show on January 5th!  Bummer!  But being good sports (and having nonrefundble plane tickets to Detroit) the trip is ON!

Oh, yes.    Click HERE to see the pix from LA.
