Tom brought a helper (Don Tuten) to do the heavy lifting. Tom looks ready to swallow the stock exhaust as it comes over the rear axle:
All went well until the installation of the new driver-side muffler; the exhaust hanger bolts were inadvertently bumped up inside the frame. This is not good; not good at all. After trying to line up the ubolt (now inside the frame) with the help of an icepick:
We were forced to give up on the driver's side installation and finish up the right side.
Next step was to take the car (sounding awesome with only one muffler, btw) to Tom Jumper Chevy (about two miles away) to have them retrieve the hanger bolts from inside the frame. This involved removing the rear clip (entirely) and fishing the bolt out and installing it with the bumper off. Wasn't cheap.
Phase II
The C5 was returned with the hanger in place; the rest went routinely but (sadly no finished photos).
