He had the stuff (three sizeable boxes) shipped directly to me; they arrived on Monday. I emailed Bob and he arranged to come on Wednesday afternoon (along with friend Jim Hudlow) to do the installation.
Bob's style is similar to mine; in getting Jim to "help" he actually got Jim to do the work. Tom Sawyer, fence, same thing..
This is me, Bob, Jim and the boxes. That's Bob's 2002 MagRed convertible about to be "Corsa-fied":
First step is to put the car up on the lift. That's me acting like the alignment target. This is work that I'm up to. On the right is my 1953-2003 Commemorative Edition Corvette:
This is as high as the lift needs to go. We've perfected the "do it sitting down" methodology:
Since other stories have pictures of the packing of the exhaust, I've only included one such (the packing for the X-Pipe):
Jim beginning to remove the stock exhaust:
Once the exhaust was off attention turned to the X-pipe. The first step was to cut the exhaust tubes forward of the stock H-Pipe. We were so concerned about cutting the exhaust tubes (with a chaincutter):
It was sooooo easy! We were all surprised. It only took about two minutes! Notice the uneven ends; that's on purpose:
Here are the two stock exhausts and the H-pipe removed from the C5:
Here's a closeup of the cutoff ends before the X-pipe is installed. Those two nifty clamps connect the exhaust tubes (behind the cats) to the forward end of the new X-pipe. The cuts are offset so that the clamps can be rotated up out of the way without hitting each other:
Installation thereafter was routine. We "let" Bob torque the bolts. The second picture shows the effort involved:
..and here's the finished product:
