Say no more!
Invitations were extended on the C5Net and six of us showed up this evening at the Rio Bravo Restaurant in Dunwoody. My wife says I can't participate in any event without overdoing something. I'm hurt.
At 4pm my bride went to the restaurant and blocked off five parking places with traffic cones. I didn't even know you could buy traffic cones in small quantities until I tried, but the internet saved the day again. Then I took just a few hours and made a small sign for each attendee and placed it on his/her assigned parking place cone.
Of course we couldn't have the same color cars adjacent to one-another; it just wouldn't have been right. Actually Cindy and Robert Goldstein (C5R# W0160) were the first to arrive (they beat me there) so Cindy got to decide who parked where.
Being guys, the rest of us didn't give much of a hoot but it's been my experience that letting women have their way makes everyone's life easier...(no offense, ladies)
And here's Cindy at the wheel of her(and Robert's) beautiful '97 Fairway Green Coupe |
|
Eventually we all arrived. From left to right, it's Rob Buckalew(C5R# W0277), Tom Crawford (C5R# W0149), Frank Fortson (C5R# W0604), Robert and Cindy Goldstein(C5R# W0160) and Chaz Cone (C5R# W0526). |
Rob Buckalew's 98 Black Targa Extremely cool BBS wheels and sexy black bra (the car, not Rob) |
|
Here's Tom Crawford and his 97 Silver Targa. Tom was the spark that got us all together today. Check out his guard dog lower on this page. |
|
This is Frank Fortson with his '98 Black Roadster (the only roadster in attendance) |
|
Robert and Cindy next to their georgeous (and rare) '97 Fairway Green Targa. Lots of neat add-ons beautifying this great car. |
|
This is Chaz (me) by my 98 Black Targa. Corbel decals, Corsa tips and Ecklers sill plates are the only things I've done to my black beauty (unless you count the IBIZ wax..) |
Here's Tom checking out my Etak GPS program. It only took about ten seconds for the software to locate us EXACTLY where we were standing. It is tough to drive with the laptop sitting atop the windshield -- but we do have to make sacrifices for our gadgets. |
|
And here's another view of the laptop and the GPS antenna sitting on the hood with the cable running down the wind- shield and across the hood. Not the neatest installation but it hangs on pretty well until I encounter a curve .. |

We had a fine time and will do it again. And a very big special THANKS to Rob Buckalew!
