C5Registry Atlanta Pre-Birthday Bash @ Bowling Green GetTogether

Rio Bravo Restaurant, Roswell,GA
April 14, 1999

It's not enough that we're about to hit the road for the Birthday Bash at Bowling Green (BB@BG), we have (yay!) an excuse to have another C5Registry Atlanta-area get-together. So we cranked up invitations to the locals and had about a dozen agree to come to our (now traditional) watering hole, the Rio Bravo Restaurant in Roswell, GA.

But we were in for a surprise. When the Florida caravan to Bowling Green heard that C5ers were meeting, they surprised us by showing up -- early so they'd get the best parking places! What a treat!

Present were:

Brian BargerW138599 Nassau Blue Targa
Joe BlumbergC5-less in Atlanta
Paul and Shirley BuchkovichW086298 White Roadster
Chaz & Gael ConeW052698 Black Targa
Mike Coppola & Barb VanzandtV005598 Silver Mallett Roadster
Jeff ErismanW147999 MagRed Targa
Charlie & Leslie GossV004097 Black Targa
Andy Grueling and Pam(?)W099698 Torch Targa
Gary McCurdyX164298 Fairway Green Targa
Marlene MitchellW065997 Torch Targa
Jason RohrX171999 Pewter Targa
Charlie TiedtW066699 Black Roadster
Dick WulfX183099 Black Targa

Here's almost everyone:

Left to right it's: Paul and Shirley Buchkovich, Leslie and Charlie Goss, Barb Van Zandt and Mike Coppola, Dick Wulf, Jeff Erisman, Brian Barger and Gary McCurdy.

And, of course, here are the cars...

Since you can't see 'em too well in the group shot, here's a gallery:

Mike Coppola's Mallett hot rod. Clothes for two weeks packed in the trunk; not even room for another kleenex!
Charlie Goss' beautifully pin-striped, totally blacked-out ride. Awesome!
Bob and Shirley came in their White Shark with the great looking Oak top -- and, tastefully, no body side moldings...
We're getting used to seeing Brian Barger's Nassau Blue Angel here in Atlanta. He lives in Alabama but flies (in the C5) over for any and all mid-week events.
Here's a rare treat; not too many Fairway Green 98's out there. This is Gary McCurdy's fine ride.
And, modestly, the cleanest 98 Black Beauty around (at least for the first thirty minutes after cleaning). It's mine!
This is, arguably, the newest Registry C5 in Atlanta. Jeff Erisman just picked it up at the museum two weeks ago. Gotta admit the MagRed is excellent (even with those detestable body side moldings)!
Of course, I'm partial to black cars. Dick Wulf's is almost as nice looking as mine -- but he had to drive all the way up from Newnan, GA so his pollen count is a tad higher.
It's always great when Marlene Mitchell can join us. Her's was the first (of only two) Torch C5s to attend this time.
Sadly I spent the rest of the time running my mouth so I didn't get pictures of the later arrivals (Andy, Jason and Charlie). I'll be sure to do better next time!

And that's it until next time!
