December 2007

    Day 10 - Wednesday, December 5, 2007

We awoke this morning to a view blocked entirely by the Carnival "Imagination".  This may be the biggest ship seen on our trip:

Grand Turk is only seven miles long by one mile wide and is the seat of government for the Turks and Caicos Islands.  We're docked at the cruise ship quay so we walked ashore:

Through the security gate is a mall (sort of) with dozens of shops, some air-conditioned (my favorites) and some not.

Jimmy Buffet's presence is felt even if Jimmy isn't here.

"Shoe-shod boy with shins of pink"

Margaritaville's pool bar is really a "pool bar":

Men of Grand Turk are much taller than the average:

With the 3,000 people from the Carnival ship and our 380, it was somewhat crowded.  Everyone wanted to be part of the "Hi! Spencer & Hayden" process.

Walking back, we're dwarfed (again) by the Carnival "Imagination":

Where's Diddie?!?

Once the Carnival ship departed, we had a better view of Grand Turk:

Here's how Diddie spent the afternoon:

    Another spectacular Caribbean sunset:

Before dinner we attended the Krew Kapers show put on by the crew; wonderful!

This evening we dined with folks we'd not met before; they were delightful and we cleaned up pretty well:

And then the Motown Gold show by the Regency Orchestra, singers and dancers:

Tomorrow we're at sea on the way back to Ft. Lauderdale; and we pack.
