November 2007

Yes, we're off again, this time to the Caribbean for eleven days.

If you thought you were going to see our September 2007 Mediterranean cruise here, just click HERE.

This cruise, the second in two months (don't ask) takes us to the sunny Caribbean just as November morphs into December.  A pretty good time
    to be there I'm thinking.

    Here's the plan:

    • We fly from Atlanta to Ft. Lauderdale

    • where we board the Regent Cruise Ship "Navigator" to Princess
Cays (a cruise ship private island)

      • Next to San Juan, Puerto Rico,
      • St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands,
      • Gustavia, St. Barts,
      • St. Maarten,
      • Tortola,
      • Cayo Levantado, Dominican Republic,
      • Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos Islands and
      • finally back to Ft. Lauderdale

    • ..to fly back to Atlanta the same day.

    Here's the ship:

This is the smallest cruise ship we've been on; only 490 guests.  One of its advertised attributes is that everything is included in the cost of the cruise -- even wine and spirits!  Look for us in lounge chairs with margaritas coming until we can no longer speak.  It's only a short crawl
    to the stateroom...

    ..and here's the route:

If you've ever followed along on any of our sea or land trips (click HERE for prior adventures if you get bored with this one...), you know I'll be trying to keep you up-to-date with stories and photos as we go.  It's reported that the ship has high-speed internet in the stateroom and, unlike our Alaskan cruise, this time I'll try to avoid dumping a glass of Pinot Noir into the laptop.  I'll be careful!

And, this time, we also have a wee video camera that may come into
    play; you never know!

    Day 12 - December 7, 2007

The plan: We arrive in Ft. Lauderdale, taxi to the airport and fly home to Atlanta.

    Summary:

    1. This was the best cruise of the five we've done.

    2. We recommend Regent without reservation.

    3. We especially liked the "small ship" experience; 380 passengers rather than 2,500.

    4. Accomodations, service, staff, food, drink were without peer in our experience.

    5. I don't think the "all inclusive" plan is a good value.  It's especially NOT a good value if you don't drink (do we know anyone like that?).

Yes, it's nice not being nickeled-and-dimed for everything but if you added up those things that would have been handled that way it would have been a far less expensive cruise.

We hope you enjoyed sailing along with us; we know WE did!!
