The Skagway harbor has jetties that the cruise ships use, nose-in, rather than the moorings we found in Juneau. Another ship of the Celebrity Line, the Mercury, was right alongside:
Along the jetty the locals had liberally applied graffiti. Just about every square inch of rock had been tagged:
Looks to me like the taggers are mostly employees of one cruise line or another.
Wanna stroll to Skagway? Walk this way..
Here's Skagway as seen from our balcony:
By 6:00p the Mercury had sailed leaving behind a much better view:
BTW, I was able to score some additional photos from Tim & Cathy Beyer so I've added pix to these prior pages:
My internet woes continue. I cannot send email from the ship though I CAN receive it and, or course, am able to update the web pages. This is a chronic problem I've experienced before and I'm almost positive it's on my end -- but I haven't been able to solve it. So you won't be getting the email indicating a new page is up but I'll continue to try to get them uploaded.
We sail at 8:00p and turn back south toward Icy Strait where I'm pretty sure I'll have no internet at all. We then sail for Ketchikan and will be there on Wednesday. By then, cabin fever will have forced us off the ship :)
