Yes we did, although "Nancy's" was now "Anthony's" and he not only wasn't there, but had sold it. Breakfast was good. Now we were off to find Reggie Car's, which we managed to do. Rick Hahn greeted us and gave us a private tour of the cars. He was full of detail and told us what facts and what kind of restorative work was done on each vehicle. The muscle power in that garage would make any guy jealous. We are talking enough horsepower to launch the space shuttle in a couple of garages. Not only are there a great number of cars, but also as Rick Hahn says they are to be used and run. A great big thank you goes to Rick and Linda for inviting us on this special side trip:
After leaving Reggie's place we decided to find the way to San Jose. Yes, we now "know the way to San Jose." So off we went to find the Sarah Winchester Mystery House. What a great place! A small overview is that this house has 160 rooms,( just a couple more than our house), nine kitchens, (eight more than me), a few fireplaces (47), windows in floors, doors to nowhere, and stairways that lead to blank walls, to name a few of the highlights. A must see if you ever find your way to San Jose. We also did a behind the scenes tour and got to see the basements and some out buildings. This lady had a lot of money and a lot of eccentricities. But we did enjoy her work:
After leaving the Winchester house we found a nice restaurant in San Jose for a great Italian dinner and then found our way over the hill and back to Monterey. We had another great day in CA.
Upon arriving in our room there was a message waiting for us. Chaz called to inform us Gael had fallen and broken her femur and her foot:
This lady has real bad luck at Corvette events. For those of you who do not know, Gael also broke her knee in Nashville on her way to the NCM's 5th birthday bash. That is always referred to as "the incident", as Chaz hit her (accidentally of course) with his car. I think if you go to chazcone.com, there might be a link to this story. This time Chaz was nowhere near her. On her way to go shopping, she some how managed to trip down the stairs. She was very fortunate that the doctor put her leg in an immobilizer and her foot in a malopedic boot, so she was still somewhat mobile. When we saw her in her room she was in good spirits. (Could the wine and pain pills have anything to do with that?) At this point they were undecided if they were returning to Atlanta and said they would go on the rally the next day. Diehard fans they are!
