Buzz and Jackie's Monterey Adventure 2002

    Thursday, August 15th

Thursday was another sort of free day, so we got up leisurely and met Rick & Linda for breakfast. Chaz & Gael had left early (5:45AM) for Atlanta. We did find out later, that in their usual style all did not go smoothly. Chaz was thrown to the floor of the shuttle bus on their way to the airport or maybe Gael found a way to get even. At least they got to see their grandson and the kids at the airport before they left. We decided to go to Carmel and see the parade of cars from the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance as they arrived in the center of town. What a show! There were all years, types and styles of automobiles arriving one at a time; some even with the drivers dressed in the proper attire. I mean where can you see over seven or eight million dollars worth of cars up close and personal? Many of these are one of a kind and will never be another chance to be seen again. The parade had about 100 cars and the actual show is supposed to have over 200 autos. Not only did we get to see the cars, but also we even got to catch a glimpse of how the "other half" eats lunch in the park.

After drooling over the coachwork, we went to a well-known shopping center to spend the afternoon and some of our money. Those of you who know us will realize that we always look for Christmas items, especially ones on sale. Why is it always our luck to find the right items, when we don't have the room to bring it home? Oh well, there is always a Mailboxes, Etc in town. After resting in our rooms for a few minutes, it's off to dinner at "Taste Café and Bistro" in Pacific Grove one more time for another of what should be a culinary delight.
