Buzz and Jackie's Monterey Adventure 2002

    Saturday, August 10th

Saturday had us up early; we met with other C5 members for a breakfast at Carrows. Some went to the Aquarium, but we chose to go over to the car show in Pacific Grove, which was put on by Monterey del Oro. It was early and maybe only 100 cars were there. The grounds were exceptionally nice for a car show:

Its primary purpose is for playing football. There were several vendors; of course we did some shopping. What's a car show without buying corvette apparel both for the car and us? No, we were not showing. We wanted to see something of the area, so we went to Cannery Row. Had a wonderful lunch overlooking the bay at the Plaza Hotel and then walked up and down Cannery Row, yes we went in and out of many of the stores. A great day! Of course a few purchases were made here and there. The weather was nice and warm.

Saturday night brought a C5 Registry dinner at the Hilton. Very well attended:

John Cafaro spoke and touched a bit on the subject of C6's. What's true or untrue? The question still remains. Many door prizes were won. Another great Registry event with lots of social mingling by all made a very enjoyable evening. Talk about a world wide organization; we met a wonderful couple named Gary and Victoria Anne Garwood from Kent. England. Who it turns out were at LeMans when we were there. They happened to win a poster with some autographs on, but not one of John Cafaro's so he graciously added his to the others. Certainly made them happy. John also was kind enough to sign whatever any one gave him and then made his way outside to autograph the hoods of cars:

Some of us then gathered in the lounge to chat some more.
