“What’s Old—What’s New in Pittsburgh” A guided bus tour presented by Lenzner
Coach Lines/Coach USA Pittsburgh |
Welcome to a tour of
adventure and discovery! Pittsburgh is
truly “One of America’s Most Livable Cities.”
Join us and see for yourself!
Our first stop will be a ride
up the Duquesne Incline (optional) to
Mt. Washington for a spectacular view of downtown Pittsburgh, including the
“Golden Triangle” (also known as ‘The Point’) where Pittsburgh’s three rivers
meet Point State Park.
Next we will explore our new
North Shore to see the latest in Pittsburgh’s landscape, particularly our new
PNC Park (home of the Pirates) and
Heinz Field (home of the Steelers). Then we will travel to old Allegheny City,
now known as the North Side, to the Mexican War Streets, Millionaires’ Row and
Calvary Church, passing by the Carnegie Science Center and the Andy Warhol
Museum.
Our stop for lunch will be on
your own at Station Square. Originally
the home of the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad yards, Station Square and
Bessemer Court will provide you with a variety of great places to eat.
Following lunch, we begin
with a tour of downtown, including Pittsburgh’s “crown jewel,” PPG Place.
Next we travel to Oakland,
the Cultural District of Pittsburgh, with its many universities and
museums. Once in Oakland, we will visit
the Heinz Memorial Chapel and tour the Nationality Classrooms at the University
of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning.
On our way back to the hotel,
we will drive through the “Strip District,” an old industrial district now
thriving as Pittsburgh’s premier place to buy fresh produce, ethnic foods and
gourmet delicacies.
EXTRA BONUS
!!!
Upon our request, those on our bus tour have been granted special
permission to visit the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland (not normally open
during the summer). This is a grand
concert hall, where our Four Freshmen appeared in the early 60’s. Ross Barbour calls it “my favorite place to
perform in all the world.” Don’t miss
it!!
PRICE: $34.00 per person (includes transportation,
attractions and guide)
