Corvettes at Carlisle 2006

"Registry Row"
The Chip's Choice Display this year featured Corvettes from the Miller family collection. Many of the Corvettes were Corvette Challenge race cars. My two personal favorites were a 1991 Callaway Corvette Speedster and the 2000 Corvette C5-R driven by Dale Earnhardt, Dale Jr., Andy Pilgrim and Kelly Collins in the 24 Hours of Daytona Race in 2001.
The Grand Sport Registry celebrated the ten year anniversary of the 1996 special edition Grand Sport. They had over 100 of these fine cars on display along with the original 1963 Grand Sport No. 001.
Friday morning the Mid-Years rolled in early and the Registry Row looked great. Many of us spent the day looking for parts, looking at the Corvettes for sale and checking out what's new at the Chevrolet engineering tent. The Women's Oasis was where some of our wives spent time being pampered and shopping (their favorite pastime!)
Friday at 4:00 PM was the inaugural Corvette burnout competition in front of the grandstands. fifteen Corvettes put on quite a show. If you didn't see it this year you should put it on your list to see next year.
Saturday morning began early with cars arriving at Registry Row. Just after 1:00 the Celebrity Judges began selecting their favorite Corvettes parked in the Fun Display areas. Celebrity Judges chose sixteen of our members' cars as their favorite Corvettes. See the pictures and judges comments of all the winners this year by clicking HERE.
In the afternoon, members of the Carlisle Events film crew interviewed us for their yearly Carlisle DVD:

As usual we again held our own Car Show on Saturday. The third place winner was Mike and Debbie Weiner with their yellow 67 big block roadster:
Our first place winner was Collin & Meg MacDonald with their 63 Sebring Silver Coupe:
Registry members really enjoyed the day as you can see from the following pictures:
I want to thank all of you who helped out in the Registry Tent. We hope to see all of you at Corvettes at Carlisle 2007. Be sure to note on your Fun Display Registration Club Affiliation that you are a member of the 63-67 Sting Ray Registry so that we will have a bigger Fun Display area next year. We will also be posting on the web page a basic Agenda for Carlisle 2007 about one month ahead. So plan on attending the Event and joining us for one/both of the Registry dinners, award Ceremony and Door Prize giveaways.
