After weeks of storms, a day like this:
..was most welcome!
Now, I love a Corvette-Only car show as much as anyone -- but having it at Hooters I found rather distracting -- just a little. I don't know why...
It was a good turnout, 58 cars entered, all generations of Corvette. When friend Pete and I arrived at about 9:30a the lot was filling up fast.
They gave me a very nice spot between Roman and Marilyn Sabadaszka's 50th Anniversary convertible and a 1978 25th Anniversary Pace Car:
This was the first sunny day in more than three weeks; Pete cleverly brought a golf umbrella for the sun:
Lots of great looking cars:
Of special note (to me, at least) were these two:
Above is Tonie & Carl Etter's just-finished project. It looks like a 1957 Corvette but, under the covers, this car is all C4. Panama Yellow with White coves. One of my dream paint combinations! Here are more shots:
The other noteworthy car is this C3:
Yes, that's a rumbleseat!
Folks were hard at work at the Registration tent:
Dan Casey is Type-A. He wasn't happy with the mounting of the Classic Glass sign so he enlisted Kathy Wilcox's help to "fix" it:
You know I love to photograph kids:
He's happier than he looks; sorry about the photo. This is "Just Bob" who, among other duties, gets to interview and hire Hooters Girls. Tough gig:
Tom Wilcox came up with the great idea of having a photo of the winning car (complete with owner and Hooter Girls) on each plaque. Since that couldn't be done instantly, pictures were taken and the photos will be sent along to be mounted on the plaques. Great idea!
Here are thirteen of the fifteen winners:
Freeman Holloman
Jack Kreger
Jim Prather
Eric, Angee, Ty Grigg
Robert Fletcher
Mike Green
Mike & Hayley Holbrook
Steve Proper
Larry Banks
Dennis & Linda Cavanaugh
Chaz Cone
Jody Gregg
Ken & Vonne Hamilton
Chris Breaux (Hooters Girls Choice; the car, not Chris)
It did not go without notice that we had both a gorgeous 50th Anniversary Corvette and a beautiful 25th Anniversary Corvette at the show:
Beautiful day, beautiful cars, beautiful girls, cold beer -- what else could one wish for?
